Perhaps one of the biggest challenges to implement changes in an organization is getting people committed to changing their daily behavior. Although, according to Maslow, people usually want to do thier best, they often do not feel empowered to do so.

This condition is called the "knowing-doing-gap" and has many different sources;

  •     People feel they dont have time
  •     People substitue plans for action
  •     We have always done it this way (also see " not invented here" NIH syndrome.
  •     People assume "smart talk" leads to smart action.

1 & 2 can be handled by motivational techniques that directly reward the desired behavior. 3 & 4 however,  require a paradigm shift in a person's perspective, and will require a little more focused effort.
